Sandvik Coromant To Introduce New Face Milling Solution In March 2009

untitled

Fair Lawn, NJ - Sandvik Coromant's CoroMill 345 is a flexible tool that provides high performance face cutting with small depths of cut in steel and stainless steel. Available in March 2009, the CoroMill 345 offers high performance across a spectrum of applications ranging from small-batch, mixed machining to high-volume dedicated production lines.

As part of a new generation of 45-degree face mills, the CoroMill 345 is equipped with double-sided inserts that provide four edges on each side. The new tool offers full cutting edge backing and insert-seat stability through shims with strategic support islands that match insert rake-faces. The CoroMill 345's uncompromised performance makes it suitable for a variety of operations, from roughing to mirror-finishing with wiper inserts.

By featuring a more positive axial inclination at small depths of cut, the CoroMill 345 offers a soft cutting action with low axial pressure on the workpiece. As the depth of cut becomes larger, a more upright part of the cutting edge is engaged, giving the insert a more substantial structure for high security.

The CoroMill 345 will optimize processes in a variety of machine tools, ranging from small, low-powered machines to large, innovative multi-task machining centers. The tool will be released in diameters from 2.00 in - 10.00 in (40 mm - 250 mm).
