ANXeBusiness team creates Rolls-Royce aviation portal

September 22, 2000

<%=company1%>, a subsidiary of SAIC, has teamed with Rolls-Royce plc, Data Systems & Solutions, and Enigma, Inc. to design, build and deliver the aeromanager portal in record speed, on time and within budget. aeromanager is the largest of a range of Rolls-Royce Web-based e-commerce projects in fields such as customer services and procurement.

aeromanager, which will give airlines instant access via the Internet to a wide range of engine aftermarket services, began trials in late July 2000 at the world's largest air show at Farnborough 2000 in the U.K.

aeromanager offerings include:

  • Enginedatacenter.com – This Internet-based service provides engine health monitoring services (EHM) around the clock to power plant engineering teams. The new service allows engine conditions to be monitored on-line and parts tracking to be undertaken in advance, improving fleet maintenance planning, reducing passenger flight delays and saving costs for airlines.
  • Engine Leasing – aeromanager provides customers with the technology to request an engine lease on-line and receive a text-based message via their mobile phone confirming the lease.
  • Repair and Overhaul Slot Booking – Using the portal, customers can research facilities that are able to conduct repairs immediately and schedule appointments for engine repairs and overhauls.
  • Repair and Overhaul Status Reporting – aeromanager provides customers with personalized on-line reports showing the status of all engine work.
  • Parts Inventory – Customers can view and request purchase of new, used and surplus parts directly from Rolls-Royce.
  • Technical Publications – aeromanager provides complete Web-enabled repair and overhaul manuals with schematics and parts lists. The portal also has advanced search features.

"The launch of aeromanager is a direct result of listening carefully to the needs of our customers," said John Cheffins, Rolls-Royce managing director, Airlines. "The portal will allow operators unprecedented flexibility to manage their engine fleet operations based on the availability of timely accurate information."

Data Systems & Solutions, based in Reston, Va., currently provides EHM services for more than 850 aero engines in service with 25 airlines. By the end of the year, the company predicts 80 percent of its customers using EHM will access them via the Internet.

Data Systems & Solutions is equally owned by Rolls-Royce and SAIC and began operations in February 1999. It provides predictive maintenance technologies and integrated asset management solutions to aerospace, defense and energy clients to help enable industry professionals to focus on their core business. It employs approximately 450 information technologists, engineers and other professionals in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
