New Machining Solution From Hydratight

Market leading joint integrity specialist Hydratight has added the 2250P boring bar capable of covering a range of 2.5in. to 24in. diameter and lengths of up to 12ft., to its range of boring bar tools.

Many of the design and performance elements of the 2250P have been inspired by the larger capacity field proven Hydratight 8200 series machines. One of the key areas of this design transfer has been the rotational drive unit; the assembly uses a 5:1 double enveloping worm gear which provides 25% more cutting torque than any other boring bar within its class. The boring bar’s robust assembly has hydraulic, pneumatic and electric drive capability options.

The new 2250P boring bar is available with bar lengths starting at 4ft. up to 12ft. with ½in. broached tooling holes every 6 inches. The bar is centered within a bore using the available rapid traverse centering cones which quickly align the bar and bore. Final precision radial adjustment can be made up to .25 in. using the available jacking bolts within the support assembly. The tool’s end supports have also been designed with multiple mount options and each support is fitted with a spherical bearing allowing for up to 5 degrees of bar alignment.

The bar mount tooling has a machining range from 2.5in. to 4.5in. diameter and additional boring heads are available providing a range from 4.5in. to 24in diameter. Each of the available boring heads comes equipped with a fine radial adjustment that allows for quick and accurate setting of the tool position.

Also available is an optional facing/grooving head which covers a range from 2.25in. to 21in. diameter. The advanced cutter head uses a cam tripper which actuates the cutter over an increased surface range.

Each of the 2250P assemblies; axial feed, rotational drive, boring heads and facing/grooving heads can be mounted at any point along the bar, allowing the 2250P to be configured to meet almost any boring or facing application.

The bar can be pulled after centering so that the bore welder can quickly be inserted into the 2250P bearing support to begin the welding process. Using these same supports increases efficiency and decreases the time it takes to get the job done.”
