IMTS 2000: Solid Carbide Drills
The drills resist chipping caused by built-up edges, adding to operator security. All sizes are PVD-coated with Ti (C, N)+TiN coating that permits a wider working range in terms of speed and feed. Curved-edge geometry makes the drills easier to regrind. They also offer a cylindrical shank for hydraulic or hydro-mechanical precision chucks, in a diameter range of 5mm to 20mm and drill lengths 3 x D.
The process for sintering the two dissimilar substrate materials together is a significant manufacturing breakthrough. The resulting combination of properties on the cutting edge suits this grade especially for demanding stainless steel drilling. The company provides detailed lab and field test results that show that the new drills achieve up to double the penetration rates of conventional solid carbide drills with no sacrifice in reliability.
