New inserts for the CoroMill 390 milling cutters are designed to offer improved productivity over a larger range in precision application, especially aerospace and die and mold metalworking.
The expanded line of corner radius inserts includes both 11- and 17-mm thickness. The 11-mm inserts' radii range from 0.008- to 0.122-in. in eight steps. The 17-mm inserts' radii range from 0.016- to 0.250-in. in 12 steps.
Typical applications include shoulder milling jobs requiring different radii, five-axis machining of turbine blades, jobs requiring stronger corners, and profiling with endmills. According to the manufacturer, when combined with their CoroMill 390 precision cutter, these radius inserts provide an estimated 20% improvement in productivity.
