Abrasive Cutting Nozzle

For waterjet cutting, the nozzle, like perishable cutting tools, has wear characteristics that affect tool life, particularly in cutting applications that require the use of abrasives in the water to cut harder materials.

Using diamond orifice technology, ABB-I-R Waterjet Systems has extended the life of its Autoline nozzles up to 20 times that of nozzles with sapphire or ruby orifices. The Autoline nozzle has only three wear parts: the orifice, the mixing chamber, and the focusing tube. The nozzle assembly design uses a prealigned orifice and focusing tube to reduce operator setup time by maintaining accurate tool center point and ensuring an effective cutting stream.

Tool-free hand tightening permits quick replacement of orifice and focusing tube and quick removal of abrasive supply hose. An extended-life, component mixing chamber permits replacement of only the wear insert. The entire cutting nozzle weighs only 5 lb providing flexibility to multiple cutting head systems.
