Addition Of SumiDrill Product Line GDX Series Indexable Insert Type Which Supports Machining Of Various Hole Diameters
Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereinafter referred to as "our company") has launched additional diameter variations for the SumiDrill GDX series of Indexable Inserts in June 2025.
The SumiDrill GDX series of indexable inserts, launched in November 2024, has been appreciated by many customers for its ability to meet the needs of deep hole drilling for machining large components, such as wind turbine generator components, over the past few years.
The expanded product range includes 96 Cat. No. of drill bodies and 16 Cat. No. of inserts supporting diameters ranging from ø15.5 mm to ø18.0 mm and ø22.5 mm to ø27.0 mm. This diversity of range enables machining of a wider range of hole diameters, with stable performance, even in deep hole drilling, stainless steels, and general structural rolled steels, which was previously difficult to achieve using conventional indexable insert type drills.
