Techna-Tool & Machineo broken tool detection system uses a contact scanner that rotates on every machine cycle to check for tool presence. Mounted near the tool, the scanner "learns" the position of the tool and stores the location in its memory. The compact unit features a patented encoder/stepping motor and Viton® seals rated for submersibility in coolants. Applications include part presence checking and detection of broken drills, taps, and reamers on screw and transfer machines, assembly machines, and CNC turning and machining centers. Users can choose from models for single-tool or multi-spindle applications.
