Kennametal, Inc.lumina/titanium carbonitride (Al2O3/TiCN) ceramic inserts are said to provide high wear resistance and long tool life for turning hardened (48-62 Rc) steels and irons. The inserts have multiple cutting edges, making them a cost-effective alternative to cubic boron nitride (CBN) for hard turning applications. The grade features a physical vapor deposited (PVD) TiCN coating, and is available in both clamp-on and with-hole styles.
