NTK Cutting Tools, Division of NGK Spark Plugs Tools offers cermet inserts in a variety of grades. Grades T3N, XT3, and C30 are composed of titanium nitride (TiN) and titanium carbide (TiC). With good high-temperature hardness and oxidation resistance, they are suitable for a wide range of finish and semi-finish turning operations on cast irons, powder metallurgy parts, and steels.
Grades T35 and C50 provide very good thermal shock resistance and mechanical strength, making them suitable for milling and deep grooving operations on carbon and alloy steels. Composed mainly of TiN, grade XN4 has good toughness and wear-resistance, and may be used for general cutting, boring, and grooving of steels.
