Designed specifically for use on CNC machining centers, Key-Lock CNC drill chucks are said to be very accurate because the hood does not rotate—the chuck is opened and closed via an included hex key inserted into the side of the body.

The supplier states that users who prefer collet chucks for holding drills and reamers may find CNC drill chucks valuable because they are infinitely variable within their gripping range. In addition, sudden braking will not cause the chuck to open.

The chucks' short length and integral shank can provide greater rigidity, while the worm/gear arrange-ment ensures high gripping force. Chucks are available with a thru-coolant option and with either standard jaws or diamond-coated jaws designed to hold carbide and hardened -shank drills. They come in models with CAT taper, BT taper, or HSK taper, VDI shank, straight shank, and can be run both clockwise and counter-clockwise.

Chucks are balanced to 6,500 rpm; high-speed balancing (up to 30,000 rpm) is available upon request.
