DF600 CVD Diamond Coatings for Tungsten Carbide Tools (For Finishing and Semifinishing Applications)

Source: Norton Diamond Film
Tools coated with DF600 combine two of the world's hardest materials
Norton Diamond Filmd with DF600 combine two of the world's hardest materials – CVD diamond and tungsten carbide – for a tool ideally suited to finishing and semifinishing extremely hard or difficult to machine materials.

Enhanced Productivity and Quality
Carbide Norton Diamond Filmd with DF600 CVD diamond last significantly longer than uncoated tools or Norton Diamond Filmd with PCD, offering greater productivity through decreased down time for tool changes, and increased parts per tool. DF600 tools are ideal for use in fine finish applications where an outstanding finish is required.

Coating Technologies Assure Adhesion Strength and Wear Resistance
The performance of CVD-diamond-coated-carbide tools is dependent upon both adhesion strength and wear resistance. Through proprietary techniques, Norton produces diamond and WC-Co interfaces that optimize chemical bonding and provide a toughening, crack deflection mechanism. By doing so, Norton assures the adhesion strength of the CVD diamond coating, eliminating the potential for delamination.

Additionally, Norton controls its diamond deposition process to create diamond coatings with precise characteristics for specific applications. This results in a coating that works as a composite with the carbide substrate to provide high wear resistance.
