Fansteel Inc. Names McLaren Group Executive

Thomas B. McLaren has been promoted to Group Executive - Industrial Tools Division of Fansteel Inc, Fansteel CEO Gary Tessitore announced.
McLaren will oversee operations of three Fansteel businesses at four facilities: VR/Wesson cutting tools in Plantsville, CT; VR/Wesson mining and construction tools in Lexington, KY; and Hydro Carbide tungsten carbide composites in Latrobe, PA and Gulfport, MS.

Consolidating the three businesses will allow leveraging of market strategies, technical skills, and administrative resources, according to McLaren.
"Where it's appropriate, we will share resources, information, and technology, using those synergies to assist in the overall growth of the Industrial Tools Group," he said.
A veteran with more than 20 years of experience at Fansteel, McLaren began his career as Senior Metallurgist at the VR/Wesson division. Most recently, he was General Manager of the Hydro Carbide operations and prior to that, General Manager of California Drop Forge. He also held the position of Marketing and Sales Manager at Drop Forge.
McLaren holds a master's degree in Metallurgy from Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his bachelor's in Metallurgy and Material Science at Columbia University, and has also attended the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management's MBA program.
