Icon With Maximum Performance Increase
Walter presents Solid carbide drill Drivox·tec Ikon DD170 Supreme
With the Drivox·tec Solid carbide drill DD170 Supreme, Walter AG is launching a new "holemaking icon" on the market. Like its "iconic" predecessor, the DC170 Supreme, the new DD170 Supreme is also designed as a premium problem solver in steel and cast iron - but with some technical improvements that are currently unique: first and foremost the new Krato·tec multi-layer coating. Walter has already successfully introduced this in other drill families. This means that Walter's postulated Increase in tool life in the region of plus 50 % is entirely reliable. The revised point geometry of the Solid carbide holemaking bit has an equally positive effect: A larger clearance angle on the internal side than on the external side and the raised drill point improve the Positioning accuracy, reduce axial forces and thus increase the drilling quality.
The patented groove design has also been optimised: A flatter entry towards the drill insert improves process stability, especially with soft materials such as mild steel, because it minimises material sticking. In addition to optimising the cutting profile, Walter has also increased the number of flutes. With twelve grooves instead of eight, the DD170 Supreme can now be regrinded more frequently, which significantly increases both the service life and sustainability of the Solid carbide drill bit. According to Walter, its high process reliability in difficult applications such as cross holes or inclined exits, the high wear protection of the Krato·tec coating and the excellent quality of the results make the DD170 Supreme the new benchmark in Solid carbide drilling. The Tübingen-based company offers the premium drill for the highest quantities and drilling volumes (without Pilot drilling up to 12 × Dc) with Ø 3-20 mm as well as Special tools with shorter delivery times via Walter Xpress.
