Ingersoll Cutting Tools, in partnership with Manufacturing Labs, Inc. is now the official distributor of Ingersoll Harmonizer, a proven chatter detection system which selects the optimum spindle speed for your milling process.
Using a simple unidirectional microphone connected to your PC, Ingersoll Harmonizer analyzes the sound from a milling operation. With the aid of basic input cutting parameters and audio filters, Ingersoll Harmonizer is then able to recognize chatter and make RPM recommendations to eliminate it.
Ingersoll Harmonizer works on the principle of recognizing the tooth passing frequency as well as the chatter frequency. Therefore, it is only effective on intermittent cutting operations such as milling and boring. Future enhancements will provide the ability to analyze non-intermittent operations like turning, drilling, and reaming.
