Need workholding that provides absolute minimum setup time while maximizing the number of parts within the machine working space

Need workholding that provides absolute minimum setup time while maximizing the number of parts within the machine working space?

Is present workholding inadequate and an upgrade needed to maximize machine output?

Custom Engineered Workholding from Kurt Manufacturing Company is the solution. Kurt has sound workholding answers for higher productivity. Examples include increasing part holding stations on a six-pallet HMC from four to eight while maximizing part holding repeatability on tombstone faces utilizing Kurt's SeraLock system of interlocking serrated surfaces. Each face of the tombstone is serrated to allow spacing for MoveLock modular vise components to fit the part. Setup time is less than 10 minutes.

Another example has Kurt designing nine different tombstone setups of different configurations for a nine pallet HMC with workholding for a wide range of part sizes and lot sizes. Combinations of Kurt 6 inch and 8 inch vises in DoubleLock® and extra long models are employed including five-sided tombstones equipped with MoveLock modular fixturing. The setup clamps part sizes ranging from 2" x 2" to 30" x 34" with no setup.

To achieve this high density workholding, combinations of Kurt vises and workholding modular components are configured. Using Kurt Tool Blox for the mounting base, the just-right modules can be easily integrated from its full line of DoubleLock, Versatile Lock, ClusterLock, MiniLock and MoveLock vises. To further increase the flexibility and productivity of these setups, Kurt's quick change carvable aluminum jaws and soft steel jaws are available.

Benefits of Kurt's Custom Engineered Workholding include steel and ductile iron components that provide precise and rigid part holding. These systems handle high horsepower cuts and provide chatter free workholding of even the most difficult to clamp components. They hold parts true with less deflection resulting in more accurate finished parts.
