Briney Tooling Systemsnamically balanced milling chucks are said to permit machining center users to produce consistently higher-quality surfaces with high-speed milling, drilling, and reaming than is possible with stub tooling. The tools can also minimize the need for rework and secondary passes and reduce tool wear, saving time and cost.

With shank-to-bore concentricity of 0.0002-in. and an 8 rms finish on bright shanks for exceptional spindle-to-holder contact, the chucks let users increase feedrates with no increase in cutting speeds, permitting heavier cuts compared to conventional toolholders. The manufacturer states that, because of the large surface contact in the machine spindle, chatter-producing vibration, slippage, and runout are avoided.

Holders are available in BT and V-flange styles. They can handle cutters from 0.500- to 1.250-in.-dia. without excessive torquing. An audible signal indicates when optimum tool clamping pressure is achieved, simplifying and speeding tool changes.
