The 8mm MDT insert features a clamping action systems that provides a more rigid and stable setup, which is a necessity when machining large parts or removing considerable amounts of material. According to the company, these tools achieve excellent surface finishes while reducing machining cycle times and minimizing tool handling and stock requirements. In side turning applications, the 8mm inserts have depth-of-cut capabilities of up to 0.236 in. and feedrates up to 0.020 in.
