New Baby Collet Chuck System

Stanley Sheppard Company, Inc.s of ultra-precision BIG-SHEPPARD New Baby Chucks and Collects feature an accuracy of 0.0001-in. When used with symmetrical ground cutters, these chucks and collets are suitable for high-speed applications as their design minimizes out-of-balance forces that result from eccentricity of clamping.

The design of the New Baby Chuck System combining the ideal collet taper angle with the ideal collect projection and gripping lengths, providing maximum rigidity, a powerful gripping force, a large collapsibility range, and high accuracy.

The collet nut is designed with a 45° trapezoidal screw thread and a double-rib design, offering less friction when clamping the collet, easy insertion of the collect, as well as removal without extracting sleeves or fixtures. All collet nuts incorporate ball-thrust bearings, which prevent tortional stress to the collet.

The system is well suited for use with coolant through cutting tools, and the New Baby Chucks will hold tools ranging from .02- to 0.787-in. in diameter. The system also features over 200 shank styles and a variety of lengths — from short to extra long - to meet all machining requirements.
