The MHS Single Stroke Honing Systems is designed for high production, modular bore sizing and finishing systems. It utilizes single-pass plated tools that provide precise bore size, geometry, and surface finish. With the MHS SSH System honing tools of a preset diameter to through the bore to remove a predetermined amount of stock. For increased metal removal or surface finish correction, multiple spindles can be incorporated to enlarge the bore. After the final pass, the bore is to size, straight, round, and the proper surface finish.

The Single Stroke Honing systems can accommodate up to eight honing spindles delivering up to 1,800 finished bores per hour in a wide range of bore sizes from 5.92 to 52.20 mm (0.233 to 2.055 in.) in diameter and up to 150 mm (6 in.) in length. The machine system is designed to provide incredible bore geometry and accuracy. Accuracies as good as 0.0005 mm (0.000 020 in.) or better are obtainable in a production environment. Plug gage and air gage stations can be combined to collect data for finished bore size and straightness. The machine and gaging system controls combine to maintain control within the limits when expandable tooling is installed. As there is full control of the stroking, the spindle feed and the tool feedrates, the process can be optimized for cycle time, tool life, bore finish, and bore geometry.
