Mount Prospect, IL - Sumitomo's DA2200 Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) insert has experienced from l OX to 20X the tool life of the competitors' tool performance and, in certain jobs, it can eliminate a two pass operation. DA2200 possibly demonstrates the highest strength and wear resistant combination diamond cutting tool grade available in the industry today. With a transverse rupture strength equal to that of cemented carbide, it performs best in both rough and finish machining of aluminum workpieces with the potential to replace carbide.

Sumitomo uses ultra-fine diamond grains in DA2200, to ensure the sharpest cutting edge for high luster surface finishing with fewer burrs. This extremely strong cutting edge also results in superior chipping resistance. Added edge strength allows for a higher feed per tooth, so less inserts are required in a milling cutter. Reinforced "K" and "H" type edge preparations are available to further increase cutting edge strength, in cases of severe interrupted cutting conditions.

Ideal for automotive applications, DA2200 can be used for rough and finish milling of engine blocks, cylinder heads, manifolds, transmission cases, bell housings and aluminum wheel turning. Aluminum can be machined wet or dry.
