Tungaloy Introduces New Insert Grades For TungDrillTwisted Series
Enhancing Reliability and Wear Resistance with Two New PVD Coated Grades
Tungaloy Corporation (President: Satoshi Kinoshita, Headquarters: Iwaki, Fukushima) announces the addition of two new insert grades, AH7020 and AH7030, for its TungDrillTwisted series of indexable drills.
Overview
TungDrillTwisted is an indexable drill series that employs economical 4-corner inserts. Covering tool diameters from 12.5 mm (0.492”) to 54 mm (2.126”), this versatile series offers four body lengths with L/D ratios of 2, 3, 4, and 5. The series includes four types of inserts: DJ for general use, DS and DG for superior chip control in stainless steel and mild steel, and DW with a wiper edge for improved surface finish. These inserts ensure stable machining across a wide range of materials.
The newly introduced grades, AH7020 and AH7030, are added to the DJ, DS, and DW inserts. These grades feature the latest thick PVD coatings with high titanium content for improved wear resistance. The outer layer consists of a titanium-rich nano-layered coating, providing both wear and chipping resistance, resulting in stable and long tool life.
AH7030, the primary recommended grade, offers exceptional reliability with a tough substrate, ensuring stable performance across a broad range of materials. On the other hand, AH7020 is optimized for high-speed machining in steel and cast iron, emphasizing wear resistance for high-efficiency machining.
The addition of these two grades, AH7020 and AH7030, allows TungDrillTwisted to achieve stable long tool life in a wider range of drilling applications, significantly contributing to productivity improvement and cost reduction.
