TurnLine: SH725, New PVD Grade For Small-Part Machining, And Expansion Of Toolholders For DoMiniTurn/External Line

SH725

Tungaloy Corporation is pleased to introduce SH725, the new PVD grade for turning on the Swiss lathes, with the expansion of toolholders for DoMiniTurn/External Line that has been well-received in the market as an innovative tool for external machining.

In machining small parts on the Swiss lathes, the insert with sharp cutting edge and low cutting force is essential. SH725 is the grade to meet the requirement. Tungaloy developed the new coating technology to increase adhesion strength between the coat layer and the substrate, realizing not only hardness but also sharpness of the cutting edge. As a result, SH725 features high wear resistance, sharp cutting edge, and improved chipping resistance.

Plus, toolholders are expanded for DoMiniTurn/External Line, the tool series that features double-sided inserts without compromising low cutting force equivalent to the positive inserts’. The expansion includes external toolholders for V inserts (VXGU09…) suitable for undercutting and profiling; Neck-down type toolholders that prevent chips from jamming in the bush during machining, allowing finishing process easier; 20x20mm square shank toolholders applicable for automatic turret lathes.

The new addition of SH725 and the expansion of toolholders for DoMiniTurn/External Line help customers drastically reduce the tool cost for a wide range of applications on most types of Swiss lathes, leading to the remarkable increase in productivity.

Main features:

  • SH725: the new PVD grade maintains sharp edge while featuring strong resistance to wear and chipping, improved surface quality, and extended tool life.
  • Toolholders for DoMiniTurn/External Line are expanded:
    • External toolholder for V inserts (VXGU09…: Economical double-sided insert with 4 positive cutting edges) suitable for undercutting and profiling
    • Neck-down type toolholder whose position of the cutting edge is offset from the guide bush. In finishing operation where high surface quality is required, the workpiece stays on the guide bush, allowing high-precision turning without chips or burr jamming in the guide bush.
    • 20x20mm square shank toolholder that expands the applicable range on automatic turret lathes
  • Total items: 52 toolholders; 366 inserts
