Walter AG expands Its Groov·tecGD Portfolio With Three New Grooving Systems

Walter AG is expanding its Groov·tecGD portfolio with three product innovations: The G5111-P axial grooving system is available in three cutting depths (T21, T25, and T33 mm) and four insert widths ranging from 3.0 to 6.0 mm. It enables particularly stable machining conditions and high process reliability, as the precise Internal coolant on the free and Plain surfaces optimally supports chip evacuation in axial contours. The new Groov·tecGD boring bar range G5221 ensures high stability for large diameters starting at Dmin 44 mm, insert widths from 3 to 5 mm, and a cantilever length of up to 3×D. It is ideal for internal grooving starting at the minimum diameter as well as for grooving depths up to Tmax 12 mm. The continuously reinforced tool body with an optimized design minimizes vibrations; the enlarged internal cooling bore ensures effective flushing of the working area and optimizes chip control and tool life.

With the Groov·tecGD grooving system range G55xx, Walter is expanding its portfolio with another highly universal solution: Insert widths ranging from 2.5 to 6.0 mm enable radial grooving and groove turning up to a depth of 8 mm—as well as axial and 45° applications. Thanks to the reduced base provided by the, all GD cutting inserts can be used in the toolholder. This increases flexibility, reduces set-up times, and boosts cost-effectiveness on all types of lathes, from single-piece to series production. Together, the three systems share the fundamental advantages of Groov·tecGD, foremost among them the dual-tooth profile, which remains unique in the market. It guarantees maximum stability by reliably preventing the Cutting insert from being pushed out laterally. In combination with the wear-resistant Walter Tiger·tecGold grades, Groov·tecGD thus enables maximum cutting parameters, tool life, and process reliability.
