The devices' conical shape end provides concentrated force at a single point to maximize penetration and retaining force while minimizing load pressures. This combination of high holding force/low clamping energy helps minimize warpage, distortion, and "spring back" while allowing optimum speeds and feeds.
The M2 hss grippers are manufactured and stocked in eight different body diameters and heights from 0.25- to 0.50-in. All grippers are hardened to Rc 60-62, feature a black oxide finish, and can be mounted using either a blind tapped hole or set screw against the OD.
