FireflySci Releases Spectrophotometer Calibration Standards For NIR Wavelength Accuracy Verification

WAV-8 NIR Wavelength Filter

As a newly formed spin-off from the now defunct Precision Cells, FireflySci has already made its mark, innovating a unique line of spectrophotometer calibration standards. On June 22nd 2015, FireflySci released their WAV-8 NIR filter, which is the first solid-state reference standard for checking wavelength accuracy in the range of 700-3000nm.

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) - This cutting edge standard making is a madatory tool for use in high-end Agilent, Shimadzu and Perkin Elmer machines. Featuring 12 distinct peaks, the WAV-8 is the world’s first cuvette-shaped, solid-state filter that lets metrologists and quality control personnel know if a machine is in spec deep into the NIR range. Previous spectrophotometer calibration standards, such as those made from didymium glass were only able to operate up to 875nm. Used in conjunction with FireflySci’s already released FNIR-series photometric accuracy standards, the user can perform full instrument validation throughout the NIR spectrum.

The WAV-8 standards sets itself apart from the crowd in that it features, FireflySci’s proprietary nanodeposition technology. This technology locks in the material properties and keeps all solid-state spectrophotometer calibration standards in spec. Having stopped material aging, a process which normally necessitates having to recalibrate standards every 2 years, FireflySci calibration standards stay in spec permanently apart from contamination and user error.

FireflySci has earned a reputation for producing high-end spectrophotometer calibration standards for research grade machines, such as its best-selling FUV-series filters. The FUV filters, which are often found in government labs, pharmaceutical companies and academic laboratories throughout the world. With over 35 years of experience, FireflySci’s calibration engineers have dedicated themselves to the craft of manufacturing fine-tune instruments and hold themselves to the highest standard. This can be seen clearly in their flawless manufacturing record. In over 8 years of operating, first as Precision Cells and now as FireflySci, there have been zero returns due to a manufacturing defect. Moreover, FireflySci has had filters in circulation for over 8 years, including several FUV-series standards, which are part of an ongoing NRC Canada study testing the robustness of its nanodeposition technology.

On top of the WAV-8, FireflySci boasts an entirely unmatched line of products, which have no parallel in the spectroscopy world. First among these is the FUV Dual Series, which is a feat of engineering and allows one filter to simultaneously test for photometric accuracy and stray light. The WAV-7, Firefly’s previous entry in the also features dual wavelength and photometric accuracy functionality in the UV/VIS range. At the upper end of the solid state filters is the Superband Series, which can be used over an impressive wavelength range of 170-3300nm to verify photometric accuracy. Unlike many other manufacturers, including NIST, Firefly filters will work on any machine, regardless of optics.

FireflySci’s mission is to simplify the experience of finding cuvettes and calibration standards for lab managers by providing them with the most comprehensive, easy-to-browse online shop. Combining over two decades of knowledge, FireflySci has built itself on providing high grade equipment and lightning-speed recalibration services from its ISO-17025 accredited laboratory along with a large range of cuvettes produced in its ISO-9001 production facility.
