MillLine: Tungaloy Announces The Expansion Of Its ‘FixRMill' Line

Tungaloy is pleased to announce the expansion of its FixRMill line. The FixRMill is a round insert type milling cutter series designed for profile milling in three dimensions. The versatile FixRMill is capable of profile milling, shoulder milling, slotting, ramping, plunging, traversing, and helical interpolation.

The new FixRMill is an evolution of button milling cutters with its unique anti-rotation system. Button inserts are known to rotate in the cutter body due to the feed force and thrust forces during heavy machining. This issue is eliminated by the robust anti-rotation system that guarantees the location, continued positioning, and the prevention of insert rotation under heavy cutting conditions. This feature on the insert and insert pocket also ensures positive indexes thus preventing the use of the worn-out portion of the cutting edge.

Furthermore, the design of the FixRMill enables the end user to index the insert up to 6 times. For complicated 5-axis components that utilize higher depth of cut, the inserts can be indexed at least 3 times.

Responding to the popularity of FixRMill series and the market demands, Tungaloy has expanded the line to include 10 mm diameter inserts and modular type heads (TungFlex). This screw-on head allows the end user to vary the overhang lengths by changing just the shanks.

FixRMill cutters are now available in sizes that range from 20 to 66 mm or diameters. Inserts are available in 10, 12, and 16 mm diameters. Chipbreakers are available in the general purpose MJ type and ML type for lower cutting force applications. Inserts are available in Tungaloy’s PremiumTec grades AH725 for general purpose milling in steels, and cast iron, AH130 grade for stainless steel, and AH4035 for high chromium martensitic stainless steels.
