(PRWEB)  - Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced new after-market Lathe Tool Rests, featuring significant improvements in ergonomics and performance over rests that are typically included with lathes from the factory. The main ergonomic improvement is in the smooth, coutoured finger rest which provides support from underneath as well as a rounded surface to support the index finger as it guides the turning tool along the rest. The tool rest features a round, precision-machined ledge to allow turning tools to move smoothly back and forth along the rest, resulting in excellent control for the woodturner.

"By minimizing hand discomfort and delivering a smooth surface for better tool control, these Lathe Tool Rests really improve the experience of turning," says Scott Ekman, Rockler's Vice President of Marketing. "With increased comfort and accuracy, turners end up with better results, whether they're turning something as small as a pen or as lengthy as a railing spindle."

The Lathe Tool Rests are available 4", 6", and 10" lengths to accommodate a vast array of turning projects on a wide variety of lathes. Each rest is painted with a black epoxy finish (except for the smooth tool rest edge) and features a 5/8" diameter mounting post to fit most mini and midi lathes.

The 4" Lathe Tool Rest (44209) retails for $19.99, the 6" (45263) for $22.99, and the 10" (48674) for $24.99. All Lathe Tool Rests can be purchased at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, Rockler independent resellers, Rockler.com, or from the Rockler catalog.
