Details

This company's Grade GC2030 and GC2040 inserts have sharp, positive-rake edges, improved geometries, and wear-resistant coatings designed specifically for milling of austenitic, duplex, ferritic/martensitic, and PH stainless steels.

The inserts are said to perform best at high cutting speeds×about twice the norm×and without coolant. In addition, the manufacturer states that turning off the coolant minimizes thermal shock to the carbide. Grade GC2030 features a positive geometry and sharp edge that minimize smearing in austenitic and other stainless materials that tend to plastically deform. The grade is also recommended for thin-walled workpieces, and for machining titanium and nickel-base superalloys.

Grade GC2040 is said to provide high wear-resistance in machining of extra-abrasive materials such as ferritic/martensitic, PH, and cast stainless steels. Both grades are aimed at medium and light-duty milling applications.
